**Tanuki Racing and PdV Racing Shocks Team Up for 2027**
Tanuki Racing and PdV Racing Shocks have agreed to a technical partnership for the 2027 season. PdV becomes the official damper partner of the Tanuki Nissan Silvia S13, back-to-back outright winner of the World Time Attack Challenge and holder of seven lap records at three circuits in 2026.
Ryan McGuinness, founder and engineer of PdV Racing Shocks, is designing and building a set of bespoke six-way adjustable through-rod dampers with proprietary damping rate valves from a clean sheet, working from chassis CAD models and 3D scans of the car alongside Dave Lenthall of GT Auto Garage and analyzing data with Danny Nowlan of ChassisSim. Every adjuster is external, so setup changes that used to mean sending the dampers away for a re-valve can now be made between runs. The dampers will ship before the end of 2026 and will be on the car for the Attack Tsukuba event on February 13 with Ryan supporting trackside.
Both teams are running the program in the open. The design, the build, the dyno testing, and the trackside tuning process will be published as the season goes on.
The damper program is only Stage 1. Stage 2 is in development and will be announced in time for WTAC 2027 at Sydney Motorsport Park.
"Revalving used to mean the dampers left the workshop weeks before an event and came back days before we packed the car. Now Dave can change the car between runs. Ryan is building these from scratch for our car and doing it in public, which is how we like to run things. His logo goes on the door because the work deserves it." Wayne Lee, Tanuki Racing.
"We’re excited to work with Ryan McGuinness and PdV Racing Shocks on the next stage of the Tanuki program and look forward to developing the new damper package together throughout 2027." David Lenthall, GT Auto Garage
"One of the limitations of the current (remote triple adjustable) dampers is I don't have the on-track adjustment I want and the PdV dampers should give me that adjustment." Danny Nowlan, ChassisSim
"This car sees aero loads that probably don't exist anywhere else in the world, is breaking lap records almost everywhere it runs, and it's driven by a 2X Bathurst winner. Improving on what they have with so little time on track is the hardest damper problem I could ask for. Wayne's crew opened the car up to us completely, and we'll be showing the work as we go. I couldn't ask for a better partner to develop our new damping rate adjusters with." Ryan McGuinness, PdV Racing Shocks.
**About Tanuki Racing.** Tanuki Racing campaigns the Tanuki Nissan Silvia S13, run by GT Auto Garage, engineered by ChassisSim, and driven by Todd Hazelwood. Outright winner of the World Time Attack Challenge in 2025 and 2026.
**About GT Auto Garage.** GT Auto Garage is a performance and motorsport workshop specializing in the build, development and preparation of high-performance race cars. GT Auto Garage builds, develops and runs the Tanuki Racing Nissan Silvia S13, working closely with ChassisSim and the team’s technical partners to continuously improve the car on track.
**About ChassisSim.** ChassisSim is fully transient racecar vehicle dynamics simulation software to ensure you capture everything about the car. With a range of toolboxes that cover lap time simulation, track replay/open loop sim, shaker rig, driver in the loop and a range of toolboxes to reverse engineer your car model from data. Speed starts with why and ChassisSim delivers that in spades.
**About PdV Racing Shocks.** PdV Racing Shocks designs and builds custom competition dampers in-house, founded by a damper engineer with Formula 1 and OEM/Tier 1 active suspension experience. pdvracingshocks.com
